Ravello
2002

I
spent a day in Ravello, driving there by myself. I was surprised by how
many american tourists there were.
In the morning it was hazy and the town was up in the clouds. By the time I took these (very conventional) pictures from the Villa Rufalo it had cleared up quite a bit.
I spent a large part of the day looking for an open tobacco shop so I could buy a "scheda" to call Alfonsa from a pay phone, then I walked around looking for a pay phone that worked.
I was a little disappointed by this visit to Ravello - it was not exactly mobbed with tourists but it was much more crowded than I had ever seen it, and I didn't remember so many shops catering to tourists with ridiculous prices. I paid 5 Euros for a roll of film (needless to say, Ravello is not a good place to buy film).
Although
I drove to Ravello, this photo is included as a service to those who are
planning to take a bus to Ravello from Salerno and are wondering what they look
like. As far as I know, the coastal bus only runs north from Salerno to
Sorrento now - you must take the bus on the highway to Salerno if you are coming
from the North. Anyway, that's what I was told. I definitely recall
tour busses running south on this route however.
